Chasing The Sun -- a novel by Tracie Peterson

Another winning novel from Tracie Peterson! Chasing the Sun tells a story about young Hannah Dandrige, who is left to care for her younger brother and sister when her father is gone missing. She has to endure the uncertainties of war, while taking care of the ranch and the people are working there. When William Barnett, a soldier who claim to be the rightful owner of her ranch appears, she feels pressed from every side. Can they find a solution to their circumstances and see God's plan in the midst of the storm? I truly enjoy reading the story, I finished the book in two days! It reminds me that though sometimes we can not understand why difficult things happen to us, we can trust that He has a purpose and He will make everything beautiful in its time. It is also a good encouragement for us to be bold for Him, that we should never stop reaching those who do not know Jesus, to love them just as He has loved us. One thing that I feel can be improved from the story, is to show more of the development or progression of William's and Hannah's attraction to one another, instead of them just instantly knowing from the start but not wanting to admit. Blue Moon Bay -- a novel by Lisa Wingate

I was so excited to start reading Blue Moon Bay, especially after seeing good reviews for the book. This is my first time reading a novel by Lisa Wingate, and though I appreciate her detailed description over Moses Lake, the athmosphere of the story, and the character's thoughts and feelings, I do feel that it is overdone. The slow moving story is saved by exciting and faster paced chapters starting approximately the last one-third of the book. The novel follows Heather Hampton, an independent and strong willed architect living in Seattle. With her career going up, she is aiming for a promotion through a sale of her family land in Moses Lake, Texas. But things are not working out as planned and force her to come to the the very place she is trying the get away from. Meeting her family again, seeing the place that is full of bitter memories, all that she wants to do is settle the business quickly and go back to her life where everything is more predictable. But an unexpected meeting with an old high school crush and family secrets starting to unfold, creating questions in her and keeping her longer in Moses Lake. Will Heather be able to face her past inspite of her fear, or will she rather leave everything behind because it hurts too much to uncover an old wound? Other than the slow story in the beginning, I really enjoy the word of wisdom that Lisa Wingate put before each chapters. I love the character Ruth in the story, I wish we can see more of Ruth in the book. And overall Lisa really bring out the message of faith inspite of fear really well . The Rose of Winslow Street -- a novel by Elizabeth Camden

Not so many novel kept you reading chapters after chapters, captured by the story and its characters, as if you are there with them. But The Rose of Winslow Street did it. This is my first time reading Elizabeth Camden's book and I did not expect much at first. But the more I read, the more I can not stop, wanting to know what is next. It tells a story about Michael Dobrescu, a Romanian widow coming with his family to America to claim a house that should be his. Immediately settling down into the empty house, he created a stirring in the neighbourhood which clearly stood in defense of who they always know as the house owner. Libby Sawyer is a kind and artistic girl with a secret. When she heard a stranger had taken over her father's house, she came to assess the condition. What she did not expect is to find a fascinating family, that she could not help but felt for them. As she got to know Michael and his family, mysteries unfold. Will Libby be able to discern Michael's true intentions and trust him? Will she be able to face the coming revelation about her family and overcome the road ahead with Michael? There are unexpected twists and turns in the story that make it so intriguing to me. The characters are different from what you normally see in historical novels, but their struggles feel real. The story brought a good message and overall I would definitely recommend this book. Reclaiming Lily -- a novel by Patti Lacy

Reclaiming Lily tells us a story about Dr. Chang Kaiping, a talented doctor who is searching for her long lost little sister Lily. A dangerous genetic disease runs in her family, and she wants to make sure her sister is not affected. Her search takes her to meet Pastor Andrew and his wife Gloria Powell, Lily's adoptive parents. This couple is struggling in raising rebellious seventeen years old Lily. Gloria especially fears that Kai will take Lily away from the family. Will they be able to set aside their differences, work together, and trusts Lily to the One who is in control? This novel is surprisingly beautiful and touching. It comes unexpectedly for me because it started off a little confusing with some flashbacks in time. I also feel there is too much frustration and anger from the characters in the beginning, it makes me unmotivated so I can only read a little at a time (on another hand one might say the author has been successful in delivering the story because I do feel as frustrated as the character in the story feel). But not too long the story becomes easier to follow and engaging, there are even multiple of times that I know my tears are on the brim of falling. Overall it is a good story about adoption, discovering & following Jesus, and entrusting the people we love to Him. A Lasting Impression -- a novel by Tamera Alexander

Tamera Alexander is such a gifted novelist. I have loved every single book she wrote, including her newest A Lasting Impression. It tells a story about Claire Laurent, a young artist who is forced by her father to become a copyist. When a tragedy strikes, she is sent to Nashville where she has no family and friends. By God's provision she is accepted to work for Adelicia Acklen, a very wealthy widow, at the Belmont Mansion. Surrounded by Nashville's elite society and people who have passion for art, she feels that her dream to become a true artist is at reach, if only no one knows about her past. Sutton Monroe is a personal attorney and a long time friend of Adelicia. After losing his father and his home during the war, he is now fighting for his land and family's honor. He is attracted to Claire and at the same time suspicious of her motives and her past, wanting to protect his employer from harm. Will they be able to come transparent and accept each other for who they really are? What I love the most about this novel is the author's ability to describe each character and the setting so beautifully and clear, I can see myself in their midst. I also appreciate how Tamera use Adelicia's real letter in the story, it has such power and truth, it will definitely stay in my heart for a very long time.
